PADI Drift Diver Speciality
The PADI Drift Diver Speciality teaches you how to dive safely and confidently in moving water. Instead of fighting the current, you learn to work with it, allowing the water to carry you effortlessly along the dive site.
Drift diving can be one of the most relaxing and enjoyable forms of diving when done correctly. This course focuses on control, positioning, signalling, and teamwork so you remain calm and in control at all times.

You must:
• Be a certified Open Water Diver (or equivalent)

How the course works
The course combines theory with practical drift dives in moving water.
Planning & procedures
Learn how currents work, how dives are planned, and how entries and exits differ from standard dives.
Practical drift dives
You will complete supervised drift dives focusing on positioning, buoyancy, and relaxed movement with the current.
Surface & safety skills
Practise delayed SMB deployment, signalling, and safe group separation procedures.

On completion you will:
• Dive comfortably in currents
• Control speed, depth, and position while drifting
• Deploy a delayed SMB confidently
